I'm struggling right now. Struggling with hygiene. I've recently returned to college for my senior year and for about the first two or three weeks I was doing great with hygiene. I was taking a shower every single night but now it seems I've returned to my struggle of only taking one every other day and sometimes having oily hair as a result. It's always a two steps forward, one step back kind of thing. I'm not doing as well as I have been. It seems that I'm beginning to fixate on certain things again. Which is not anything to be ashamed of but it's not something that I love either. I know that fixations are a classic symptom of Asperger's and I've accepted that they'll always be a part of my life; but it's something that I feel separates me from my peers. I'm not saying that I want to be a "nuerotypical," because I don't, but I struggle to find appropriate topics to discuss with my peers. I feel like at times these fixations distract me from my homework. Take that and mix it with my ADHD,and you have a great deal of distractability in the evenings when my ADHD medicine has mostly worn off. This can be extremely frustrating and feels debilitating at times in terms of homework accomplishment.

I'm lucky that right now my OCD doesn't seem to be bothering me much. It feels like it's under control with the medicine, though I do occasionally have flare ups of my OCD symptoms. What's mostly bothering me right now is the ADHD and Asperger Syndrome. I know I'll make it through this, but like I said, it's always two steps forward, one step back.

Sincerely,
Allison
